fuckyeahfeminists:

Costco CEO Craig Jelinek supports raising the minimum wage.

Costco announced record profits today, averaging $10,000 in profit per employee compared to $7,400 at Walmart. The secret to Costco’s success is paying employees well, providing benefits, and giving them an opportunity to unionize.

So large corporations’ excuses that treating & paying workers well would damage profits are all a crock of shit.

John Hurt to play Ninth Doctor - TV3 Xpos&eacute Entertainment

GUYS! GUYS! John Hurt will play the never before seen Ninth Doctor. Which means that Eccleston was the Tenth, David was the Eleventh, and Matt is the Twelfth!

…this is very perplexing to me.

This is indeed very vexing. My hatred for Moffat is slowly starting to bubble up again.

I’ve actually been pretty accepting of Moffat’s designs, but this…this is just really strange to me. I’m open for curveballs, as is quite necessary when watching Doctor Who, and I love John Hurt, but this just doesn’t make sense on so many levels. Who is certainly no stranger to disregarding canon, but this alters an astonishing amount of New Who, if not the entirety of it.

Obviously, I can’t make concrete judgments until the special airs, and Moffat could manage to adequately explain how this fits in with the established lore. My initial reaction, however, is that this is an unnecessary compromise to a situation that they should have seen coming. I mean, honestly, is anyone really that shocked that Eccleston isn’t reprising his role?

If the change was a little more isolated, it wouldn’t be such a big deal, but this effectively makes Smith the last Doctor and throws the continuation of the show into question. I mean, I expected this to be an issue at some point, but I didn’t think it’d be during Smith’s time, and I certainly didn’t think that it would be due to the result of poor planning and casting.
